Veterans Service Agent Indicted For Bribery

A benefits service representative with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has been indicted on bribery, extortion, and related charges.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Rhode Island charged 45-year-old Michael Darrah of Taunton, Massachusetts with soliciting and accepting bribes from veterans and family members to approve dependent care and/or disability benefits.

Darrah faces six charges, including three of bribery.

He is alleged to have taken nearly 28-thousand dollars to help expedite claims and trying to get a witness to not cooperate with the investigation against him.
