Remains Identified In Longstanding Cold Case

A skeleton discovered in 1985 has been identified as the remains of a missing Cranston man.

Keith Olsen disappeared in 1981 and was presumed dead. His remains were found off Interstate 195 in Fairhaven by a motorist.

It would take the Unidentified Bodies Project, started by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn the Third, and DNA testing by a lab in Texas to identify Olsen.

Massachusetts State Police say the prime suspect was the former boyfriend of the woman Olsen was dating at the time, and who had ties to organized crime.

This person died in 2019, but authorities believe there was an accomplice, and they will continue working to determine how Olsen died.
