Winds, Rain And Flooding Immediate Problem For State

High winds and heavy rains are coming to the state and surrounding region with the latest winter storm.

A High Wind Watch goes into effect at 5 pm this afternoon, and a Flood Watch follows at 7 pm.

Forecasters predict one to three inches of rain, with more in some locations, plus easterly winds which will increase as the night goes on.

Gusts may exceed 60 miles per hour at times, which could result in downed trees and power outages.

Most of the snow from the storm of the past weekend is expected to melt and add to the water levels.

Street flooding is likely as well, and splash-over is expected along the coastlines of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
