McKee Expected To Address Washington Bridge Issues Again Today

Questions remain about the state, and future of the westbound side of the Washington Bridge.

On Monday, Rhode Island Department of Transportation Director Peter Alviti said the initial three-month timetable for repairs was no longer feasible, and that all options, including demolition and replacement of the span are being considered.

The westbound portion of the bridge was shut down in December after engineers discovered structural issues that could lead to a collapse.

Alviti and Governor Dan McKee declined requests for further comment, as they await a report before deciding which action to take.

Governor McKee will be in Pawtucket later today where he is expected to address the newest issues with reporters.
