Rep Serpa Sets Date For Washington Bridge Oversight

State lawmakers are tentatively scheduling a joint hearing for February 12th, regarding the issues surrounding the Washington Bridge.

House Oversight Committee Chair Patricia Serpa says the date is the likely one for the hearing, which will examine what caused the westbound span to go from being declared safe during a July inspection, to being closed on December 11th.

The hearing will also look into how Governor Dan McKee and RIDOT Director Peter Alviti responded since the shutdown.

The governor says he wants to see engineering reports on the bridge, and says any investigation should go back to 2018, when controversy arose over contracts for repairs to the bridge.
