Cranston City Councilor Robert Ferri officially announced his candidacy for the mayor's office on Tuesday.
Ferri says the city needs to have a leader that will look out for its residents' interest, and he criticized recent mayors for ignoring investment in housing, schools and infrastructure.
In his second term, Ferri ran as a Republican in 2020, and switched parties two years later, which gave the City Council a Democratic majority.
Republican incumbent Ken Hopkins and state Representative Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung are the two GOP candidates, and will face one another in a September primary.
