Brown University Hunger Strike Ends

Seventeen Brown University students ended a week-long hunger strike on Friday.

Dozens of students, staff, and supporters had lobbied the school's Corporation Board to divest billions of dollars in endowments from companies it says are profiting off human rights abuses in the Palestinian territories.

Students say while the effort was not successful, they were able to make their point and the university can no longer avoid the issue.

University President Christina Paxson has maintained the board should avoid taking sides.
