NP Man Arrested For Swansea Bank Heist

A man suspected in an attempted armed robbery in Swansea made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Police say 29-year-old Giovanni Fouyolle of North Providence is one of two men who tried to rob a courier at gunpoint outside a bank Monday, but fled after the intended victim drew his weapon and fired twice.

Authorities traced a burned-out U-Haul van to a Jeep, which Fouyolle was driving when he was arrested on I-195 in East Providence later that day.

Fouyolle faces armed robbery, assault, conspiracy, and related counts-he waived extradition to Massachusetts and is being held without bail.
