Bill Will Address State Hosuing Market Concerns

State lawmakers will be examining bills regarding home purchases.

One would allow for would-be home buyers to open a tax-advantaged account for down payments, much like current 529 plans allow parents to save for students' education.

The second would levy an extra tax on corporate buyers of single-family homes.

Representative Brian Newberry says the bills are not solutions, but ways to alleviate the ongoing problems with securing a home in Rhode Island.
