Hospital Union Opposes Centurian Purchase

The organization that represents nearly one thousand CharterCARE Health Partners employees announced its opposition to its planned purchase by Centurion Foundation.

United Nurses and Allied Professionals' general counsel, Chris Callaci, also called on state Attorney General Peter Neronha to reject the Atlanta-based non-profit's acquisition.

Callaci said Centurion's business model is not credible nor viable, and noted it has never owned a hospital or health care facility. CharterCARE operates Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.

Public hearings are scheduled for March 19th and 26th on the potential purchase, with the state making a final decision in June.
