Nintendo Ends Dispute With Local Software Company

A Rhode Island software company has agreed to pay two-point-four-million dollars to Nintendo, to settle a lawsuit.

Tropic Haze LLC was sued over its popular game emulator, known as Yuzu.

Nintendo charged that Yuzu allowed players to illegally download and play Nintendo Switch games without a console, thereby circumventing technological security measures.

Further, Yuzu was accused of providing instructions on how to make unauthorized copies of games.

The settlement includes Tropic Haze agreeing to shut down the emulator, which the company claims was never intended for illegal use.
