Future Of Washington Bridge May Be Decided Today

The future of the westbound side of the Washington Bridge will be announced today.

Governor Dan McKee has called a news conference for 3 pm to discuss the engineer's findings on the state of the bridge, following its sudden closure in December.

The Governor will be joined by RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, senior deputy chief of staff Joe Almond, and a representative from a consulting firm.

The structural integrity of the span has been a major concern, and Alviti has said options could include significant repairs or even a full replacement.

The conference will take place at the Department of Administration building across from the State House.
