It’s official.

The Washington Bridge will be replaced.

The decision came Thursday afternoon from Governor McKee who had been waiting for engineers to complete a top to bottom analysis.

The Governor says that the bridge will be demolished in a competitive bid process.

He says that the winner of the bid will be announced by March of next year.

And then it will take between a year and a year and a half to build a new structure. It will take money.

And the governor says that demolishing and replacing the bridge will cost in the neighborhood of $250 to $300 million dollars.

And the Governor says the goal is to see the super structure opened in March of 2026.
