Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the theft of more than a million dollars in jewelry and gemstones from a vehicle last year.
The incident took place at a parking lot in Smithfield last November.
On Saturday, 25-year-old Sergio Castaneda Ronderos of East Elmhurst, New York was arrested on charges that include felony larceny and conspiracy.
Ronderos posted 50-thousand dollars' surety bail Sunday, but was ordered held through a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.
