FAA Investigates Plane Crash In Narragansett Bay

A couple were rescued from Narragansett Bay Saturday after their light plane went down in the water.

The crash occurred approximately two thousand feet from the runway at Quonset State Airport at around 3 pm.

Alysia Larson was piloting the Piper aircraft - she and her husband Paul swam to a nearby buoy and were rescued by a Department of Environmental Management marine unit, with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard and Federal Aviation Administration.

Both were treated for hypothermia and minor injuries.

Alysia Larson reported that the engine failed on the final approach.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
