Providence City Councilwoman Goes Public About MS Diagnosis

A Providence City Council member has been opening up about her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

Councilwoman Shelley Peterson told her colleagues during the introduction of a resolution for MS Awareness Month in March, that she had been battling the incurable neurological disease since she was diagnosed in 2017.

Despite the diagnosis, Peterson won her first run for City Council and was re-elected last year for Ward 14.

Peterson says she has received massive positive support and wants to use her platform to create awareness.
